TO KEEP PACE with the rapid technological advancement and prepare Army families too to match with 21st century innovations and improvements, the Army is geared to impart IT knowledge to all members of War Hero families while adding IT laboratories, new wings and technological accessories to the Army IT sphere.
Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Tuesday (19) morning ceremonially declared open the new Information Technology (IT) Training Centre at Ranasevapura, Anuradhapura where members of War Hero families could receive proper IT training free of charge.
The new Anuradhapura IT Training Centre (ITTC), affiliated to the Ranaviru Information Technology Training Institute (RITTI) at Panagoda consists of a modern IT laboratory, 25 modern computers and a spacious lecture hall.
The Chief Guest, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya on arrival was received by Major General Kamal Gunarathne, Commander Security Forces (Wanni) and Major General D.R.N.S Dembatapitiya, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area (FMA), Anuradhapura. A large number of senior officers attended the occasion.
The new IT Training Centre, a project undertaken by Wanni Security Forces Headquarters on the instructions of Major General Kamal Gunarathne, Commander Security Forces (Wanni), is scheduled to conduct courses for family members/close relatives of War Heroes free of charge. A nominal sum of Rs. 500/= has to be however, paid as the admission fee.
Basic Information Technology (8-15 years), Computer Driving License Course, Web Design Course, Desktop Publishing Courses and different Computer Hardware Courses are included in the syllabus at this centre. Students between 15 – 35 years of age are eligible to receive training in this centre.
Anuradhapura, being one of the major provincial capitals in the country which provides the most numbers of War Heroes to the Sri Lanka Army, will attract many more family members of War Heroes for this training, it is believed.
After enrollment of the first batch of students to the centre, the Commander shared a couple of views with family members and new students before he left the premises.
