Commander Makes His First Visit to East

PAYING his first visit to the Security Forces Headquarters – East (SFHQ-E), the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya on Thursday (3) took stock of the security situation in the province after the eradication of terrorism. The visiting commander was received on arrival by the Commander SFHQ -E Major General Srinath Rajapaksa and several other senior officers.

The Commander was accorded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honor by the soldiers of the Commander’s own regiment, Sri Lanka Armed Corps. At the end of the parade Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya planted a Mango sapling in the SFHQ-E premises to mark his visit to the premises.

 Later on, the Commander addressed the officers and other ranks of SFHQ-E after the parade. During his address the Commander pointed out that the restructuring of the Army to suit present requirements is being done smoothly while keeping the government’s development concerns in mind. The rehabilitation of disable soldiers and welfare of the families of soldiers who died or disabled in action has always been given priority in the Army.

The Commander also discussed with the Divisional Commanders and Brigade Commanders on the security situation and the progress of development in the area.
