NORTH: ARMY TROOPS continued their search and clear operations on Saturday (22) in the general areas of PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU, ALANKULAM, KUPPILANKULAM and SUGANDHIPURAM and recovered fifty-one anti personnel mines, two Bangalore torpedoes, three 81 mm mortar bombs, twenty 60mm mortar bombs, two T-56 weapons, forty-one rounds of T-56 ammunition, one claymore mine weighing about 2.5 kg, four hand grenades, one Jonny mine, thirteen claymore stands, sixty-one rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, forty Light Machine Gun (LMG) drums, five Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) tripods, two MPMG barrels, one claymore mine weighing about 12.5 kg, five hundred and six magazines, one 60 mm mortar base plate, two T-56 weapon parts, one mortar site of a 120 mm mortar, two binoculars, one 9.9 HP Yamaha out board motor, one hundred and nineteen LTTE private documents and forty other documents.
Meanwhile, the VAVUNIYA Police on a tip-off conducted a search operation in a cemetery in NELUKKULAM and dug out a grave covered with a concrete slab and recovered four suicide bombs, kept in a blue coloured jar. All four suicide bombs were of 2-4 kg heavy. Further investigations are on.
