Devotees numbering close to 50,000 flocked to the Nallur Kumaran Kovil in Jaffna yesterday (19) for the 24th day of the annual festival being held for the first time since the end of the conflict. Meanwhile, considering the large number of devotees flocking to the annual Nallur Kovil festival in Jaffna, Government completely lifted from Tuesday evening the curfew that was in force between 12 midnight and 4.00 a.m. in the Jaffna peninsula. The curfew will be imposed again from August 23, the Army said. This is the first time in recent years that the security forces completely lifted the curfew in the peninsula. Here devotees are seen engaged in religious rituals.
