THE Army in Jaffna in coordination with Sri Lanka Air Force well in advance got down question papers for students sitting the G.C.E (A/L) and the Grade 5 scholarship examination and ensured their safe delivery to Department of Education in Jaffna.
About nine thousand five hundred and sixty-four students are expected to sit for the G.C.E A/L examination this year in Jaffna. The examination is scheduled to begin on 11th August and continue till 5th September 2009.
Question papers for the examination printed in Colombo were airlifted to Palaly by Sri Lanka Air Force under the care of Mr. A.P Senadeera, Assistant Manager of the Department of Examination. Army troops provided transport to take them to Kadduwan under combined Police and Army protection. Later on, the stock was handed over to Mr. Thangaraja Arunagiri Raja, Additional Director of Education for Jaffna region on 8th August 2009.
The examination is to be conducted in seventy-four centers under eighteen coordinating units. Sixty-four students housed in Relief Villages in Jaffna are also to sit for this A/L examination. Meanwhile, the Year 5 scholarship exam is also scheduled to be conducted on 23rd August.
All transport facilities and security for the examinations are provided by the Security Forces Headquarters in Jaffna on the instructions of Major General G.P.R. De Silva, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna.
