Army, Navy &;amp; Air Force Commanders Exchange Views During Courtesy Calls

COMMANDER of the Navy Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe paid a courtesy call on Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya at the Army Headquarters (AHQ) Colombo Thursday (23) afternoon.

The new Navy Commander on his first visit to the AHQ on arrival was received by Colonel Athula Silva, Commanding Officer Headquarter battalion Army Headquarters.

After inspecting the Guard Turnout, Major General Aruna Jayatilake, Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) accompanied him to the entrance to the AHQ main building where SLSR troops accorded a Guard of Honour in honour of the visiting Navy Commander.

Army Commander then welcomed his Navy counterpart and introduced his Principal Staff Officers to him in accordance with military traditions.

The meeting between these two old schoolmates lasted for a few minutes and both recalled memories of good olden days at school and elsewhere during duties.

Navy Commander marking his visit to the AHQ upon his assumption of duties signed the Visitors’ Book at the Commander’s office before he exchanged mementoes with Lt. Gen. Jayasuriya. Commander of the Army reciprocated presenting the visiting Navy Commander with a silver colour replica of a ship as a token of goodwill and memory. 



Meanwhile, Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Thursday (23) morning called on Commander of the Air Force at the SLAF Headquarters. Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya was accorded a Guard of Honour at the entrance to the SLAF Headquarters.

Commander of the Air Force Air Chief Marshal W.D.R.M.J. Gunathilake received the visiting Army Commander and conducted him to the office complex where both of them exchanged views on matters of mutual interest. Towards the end of the brief meeting, both military leaders exchanged mementoes as tokens of their goodwill and memory.
