Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W) took initiatives to conduct a special Sinhala and Hindu New Year festival in Vavuniya town for two consecutive days (April 23-24).
Members of sports clubs in Vavuniya, tri-service and Police personnel and a large gathering of civilians who participated in the festival events received gifts from Army organizers.
The festival, supported by ‘Tharunnyata Hetak’ project took place at the Vavuniya Urban Council grounds and included a number of traditional New Year games and fun-making events.
Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W, Deputy Inspector of Police for Wanni Division, General Officers Commanding in 54 and 56 Divisions, 211 Brigade Commander and several senior officers graced the final leg of the festival as invited guests.
