THE Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday granted the CID permission to detain the Chairman of LTTE front organisation known as Tamil Rehabilitation Organisation (TRO) Velupillai Sivanadgar and another person identified as Eliyathamby Threshakumaran.
CID said the suspect would be indicted in Court on the counts of providing funds for terrorist activities and aiding and abetting terrorism.
The Magistrate also ordered the issue of notice to seven other suspects to appear in Court on July 28.
They were Murugesu Sri Shanmugaraja, Kanakalingam Premaramsi, Kathigesu Kaneshalingam, Eliyathamby Nadarajah, Krishna Kuttu Sukunaran, Balasubramaniam Sri Skandarajah, and Howaliyan Prabhakaran
The CID told Court the investigations had revealed that though notices were sent to these suspects to appear in Court they were away and requested Court to issue notices again.
The CID said the main suspect Sivanadgar, a resident of Velvetithuarai had been arrested in Vavuniya and the other a resident of Batticaloa at the Katunayake airport when he was returning from Quatar.
