VANNI district TNA MP Sivanathan Kishore who abstained from voting against the extension of emergency in Parliament last week defying the TNA decision, yesterday pledged his support for the program initiated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Government to rebuild the war torn North.
The MP also thanked the Government for ending the war after completely eliminating terrorism from the country.
The requirement of the day is to restore and uplift the living standard of the people as terrorism has already been eliminated, the MP added while pledging his support for any of the good initiatives taken by the Government to achieve that objective.
The TNA MP said he could not invite or advise his fellow MPs of the TNA. He was of the opinion that those MPs should understand what they should do now.
The MP made these comments to the media after participating at the progressive review meeting of the 180 days 'Uthuru Vasanthaya' program at Vavuniya GA's office.
Sivanathan Kishore abstained from voting against the extension of emergency vote in the Parliament last week whilst all the other TNA MPs voted against emergency.
"As an MP elected to the Parliament, as a representative of the Tamil people I am now ready to serve the Tamil people as an independent MP", Kishore added.
The MP also commended the program implemented by the Government to provide facilities for the displaced people after visiting Menik Farm relief village.
