MULLAITTIVU & EAST: DURING search operations conducted on Sunday (14) in the general areas of VISUAMADU, HARAKULAM and AMPAKAMAM in MULLAITTIVU, troops recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), two Rocket Propelled Grenades, one PRC 1077 tape antenna, ninety-nine rounds of 9 mm pistol ammunition and thirty-one G3 and A3 ammunition.
Meanwhile, troops unearthed a massive stock of T-56 ammunition kept buried in THONNITHOTTAMADU area in BATTICALOA on Sunday (14). Approximately 150,000 T-56 rounds were inside their original boxes which had been kept underground for safe-keeping.
The same day, STF (Special Task Force) during a search and clear operation in NARAKAMULLA and ILLUPPADICHENAI, BATTICALOA areas found one commando mortar gun, two claymore mines weighing about 2kg each, a 20 ft long safety code, seven anti personnel mines, two anti personnel fuses, four hand grenades, two ammunition pouches, one hand grenade pouch and one rifle sling.
