Extensive Searches Collect Tiger Weapons &;amp; Explosives

WANNI: SEARCH and clear operations of the troops are still continuing in liberated areas in VANNI in search of LTTE’s explosive devices and warlike items that might have been left hidden or buried. 

     During a search in ASIKULAM area in VAVUNIYA troops found one T-81 weapon, one hand grenade, five magazines, one hundred and fifty ammunition rounds, one mobile phone, five LTTE dog tags, nine batteries, one military-type uniform and several other items on Monday (11).

     The same day, two suspects carrying 7 kg of C-4 explosives were arrested by troops serving in the general area of PANDARIKULAM. A few more packets of iron balls were also recovered from their possession. 

     Meanwhile, troops engaged in continuous search and clear operations in the general areas of PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU and VELLAMULLIVAIKKAL found one 27 mm gun, twenty Out Board Motors (OBM), twelve OBM parts, one water-scooter, five Cougar communication sets, seven hand-held communication sets, five Cougar mikes, one Motorola communication set, one Motorola hand mike, one Motorola battery charger, four radio (type 4700) sets, two  hand mikes (Type 9600), thirty-eight T-56 weapons, one magazine, thirty T-56 ammunition, one LTTE dog tag, one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG), two RPG chargers and one helmet. 

     In the meantime, troops in KARAYAMULLIVAIKKAL area recovered one female LTTE dead body and four T-56 weapons Monday (11).

     The same day, troops in the general areas of ADAMPAN in KILILNOCHCHI found two claymore mines, weighing about 7.5 kg and 2.5 kg, four thousand and nine hundred T-56 ammunition, two claymore stands, one hand grenade, four hundred Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) ammunition, four RPG bombs, three RPG chargers, sixty-eight   60 mm mortar bombs, one Bangalore torpedoes, two 160 mm RCL (Recoilless) bombs, thirty-six anti personnel mines and five 81mm mortar bombs.
