VAVUNIYA: FIFTY EIGHT LTTE child soldiers under eighteen years of age who surrendered to the Security Forces in the past few weeks were delivered to the VAVUNIYA Police on a District Court order to be taken to AMBEPUSSA Rehabilitation Centre for Children for Rehabilitation.
The VAVUNIYA Police on Thursday (30) produced them before the VAUVUNIYA District court.
Thirty eight males and twenty females between 14-18 years of age were among those surrendees. Most of them had been forcibly separated from their parents and beloved ones by terrorists in the past 1-2 years.
The VAVUNIYA Police accordingly took all the child soldiers on a bus to AMBEPUSSA Friday (1) morning to be received by authorities. Reports said that those children, some of who remain traumatized or psychologically unbalanced were to be referred for counseling and medication.
