In response to a request made by the Ranaviru Seva Authority, five vehicles were officially handed over this afternoon (20th May) at the vehicle premises of the Presidential Secretariat to support the medical care and rehabilitation of differently-abled War Heroes residing in welfare centres.
These vehicles were donated under the directives of HE the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The official documents related to the donation were handed over by Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the President, to the Ranaviru Seva Authority. Representing the Sri Lanka Army Headquarters, Major R.M.E.K Rathnayaka Lsc received the documents on behalf of the Authority.
The vehicles are scheduled to be deployed at Abhimansala wellness centres in Anuradhapura, Kamburupitiya, Pangolla, as well as at Mihindu Seth Madura in Attidiya and Ranaviru Sevana in Ragama. These centres provide residential treatment and care for War Heroes who have sustained injuries in service.
The donation includes two Mitsubishi Montero jeeps, one Nissan Petrol jeep, one Toyota Carina motor car, and one Toyota Hilux vehicle.
