The customary Sinhala and Tamil New Year tea table and cordial get-together of the Army Headquarters took place on Wednesday (16th April 2025) morning. Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Army, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
On arrival at the venue, the Commander of the Army was warmly welcomed by Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, the Chief of Staff, together with all other Principal Staff Officers at the Army Headquarters.
The inauguration of the symbolic New Year treat commenced after the lighting of the traditional oil lamp by the Chief Guest along with Senior Officers. Afterwards, the Commander of the Army extended New Year wishes to the gathering and then engaged in amicable conversation with the participants.
A group of Officers, Other Ranks and civil employees also participated in the occasion.
