The 213 Infantry Brigade celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival, titled “Erabadhu Udanaya 2025”, on 05 April 2025. The event included a range of traditional games, including tug-of-war, pillow fighting, the selection of the Aurudu Kumara and other cultural activities that added colour and prominence to the occasion.
The festival was conducted under the guidance of Brigadier P.M. de Silva RSP USP, Commander of the 213 Infantry Brigade.
Meanwhile, under the guidance of Major General A.M.C.P Wijayaratne RWP RSP nps psc, the General Officer Commanding of 54 Infantry Division, the troops of 54 Infantry Division conducted a New Year Festival on 09 April 2025 at the Thalladi Camp premises.
Major General K.M.P.S.B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, Commander of Security Forces (Wanni), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The 59 Infantry Division organised a "Sigithi New Year Festival" for schoolchildren of Mullaitivu and Kokilai areas on 5 April 2025 at the Green Jacket Holiday Resort, Alampil, in celebration of the forthcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
Aligned with the Clean Sri Lanka initiative, the event aimed to promote reconciliation, cultural harmony and community engagement among the younger generation. The festival featured traditional games, entertainment activities, and refreshments, offering a joyful and memorable experience for all participants.
The Commander, Security Forces - Wanni, Major General K.M.P.S.B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Major General D.R.N Hettiarachchi RWP RSP USP, the General Officer Commanding of 59 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, the Senior Superintendent of Police for Mullaitivu District, Mr Mahesh Jayawardhana, Chairman of Manusath Derana Project, Other Ranks and government officials participated in the festivities.
The 56 Infantry Division celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival – 2025 on 16 April 2025 at the Municipal Council Grounds, Vavuniya, under the guidance of Major General K.N.D Karunapala RSP ndu, the General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division.
Major General K.M.P.S.B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni, together with Mrs G.A Kulatunga and Mr P.A Sarathchandra, the District Secretary of Vavuniya, participated in the occasion as distinguished guests.
The day was filled with a variety of traditional, cultural and recreational events, including a marathon race, the selection of the New Year Prince and Princess, grease pole climbing, tug of war, pillow fights, and many other entertaining activities.
The festival was further enriched with the generous sponsorship of gifts and vouchers by Nestlé Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.
Further, under the guidance of Major General D.R.N Hettiarachchi RWP RSP USP, General Officer Commanding of 59 Infantry Division, the troops of 59 Infantry Division organized a Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival and Musical Fiesta on 19 April 2025 at the Pradeshiya Sabha Grounds, Mullaitivu. The Commander, Security Forces – Wanni, along with his spouse graced the event as the Chief Guest.
