Troops of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC), along with their family members, celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year on 04 April 2025 at the Regimental Centre, Borella.
Major General H.H.K.S.S. Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Colonel Commandant of the SLAWC and Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College, together with Mrs Sachetha Hewage, Chairperson of the SLAWC Seva Vanitha Branch, graced the event as the Chief Guest.
The event featured a variety of traditional and entertaining games such as tug of war, fancy dress, placing the eye on the elephant and the selection of the Avurudu Kumari.
Meanwhile, the troops of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) conducted a 'Bakmaha Ulela' at the SLSR Regimental Centre, celebrating the Sinhala and Tamil New Year together with all Officers, Other Ranks, civil employees and their families on 6 April 2025.
Major General J.K.R Jayakody RWP USP, General Officer Commanding of the 58 Infantry Division and Colonel of the Regiment of SLSR, along with Mrs. Idunil Jayakody, the Chairperson of the SLSR Seva Vanitha Branch, graced the event as the Chief Guest.
Meanwhile, the troops of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) held their Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival on 27 April 2025 at the 4(V) Engineer Services Regiment, Panadura.
Additionally, a Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival was organised for the Officers and their families on 10 April 2025 at the Regimental Headquarters in Panagoda.
Major General K.A.N. Rasika Kumara ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of CES, along with Mrs. Anupama Rathnayaka, the Chairperson of the CES Seva Vanitha Branch graced the both events as the Chief Guest.
