Tri-Service Troops Deploy to Assist Emergency Response Efforts in Myanmar

A contingent of Tri-Service troops departed from Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake, on 05 April 2025 to assist in emergency response efforts in Myanmar following a recent earthquake.

The team, headed by Brigadier H.K.P Karunathilake RSP, the Contingency Commander of Relief Troops to Myanmar, comprises 6 Officers and 20 Other Ranks from the Sri Lanka Army, 01 Officer and 02 Other Ranks from the Sri Lanka Navy and 01 Officer and 02 Other Ranks from the Sri Lanka Air Force.

In response to Myanmar’s call for assistance, this team to be deployed to support humanitarian relief efforts, strengthning the longstanding bilateral ties between the two nations.

Brigadier S.A Hettige RSP psc, Director of Overseas Operations, Senior Officers Officers and Other Ranks were present at the airport to extend best wishes to the departing troops.
