The annual 'Army Road Race', organised for the 58th consecutive time, began at the entrance of the Army HQ on Sunday (16 Feb) morning in the presence of Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Army.
The marathon, spanning approximately 22 km from Battaramulla to the Panagoda Army Cantonment, attracted 111 participants from 21 Regiments, including 22 women runners. The event was successfully arranged under the guidance of Major General B.G.S Fernando USP Hdmc psc, the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Athletic Committee.
The race began at 6.00 a.m, traversing through Diyatha Uyana, Battaramulla, Malabe, Athurugiriya, and Habarakada before culminating near the Army Gymnasium at Panagoda.
The Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Adjutant General, Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Artillery and the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Athletic Committee, Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, along with several other Senior Officers participated in the event.
