The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka, Mr. Marc-André Franche, paid a courtesy visit to the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) on 14th February 2025.
Upon arrival, Mr. Franche and his delegation were warmly received by Major General Y.A.B.M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna).
During the meeting, the Commander of Security Forces (Jaffna) provided an insightful briefing on the military’s involvement in community relations projects, security operations, and other key concerns affecting the region. The discussion highlighted the military's commitment to fostering peace and development in the Jaffna Peninsula.
The delegation included Mr. Patrick McCarthy, Peace and Development Advisor, Dr. Vagisha Gunasekara, Country Economist and Ms. Kayathiri Kumaran, Field Coordination Officer for the North. Their presence highlighted the collaborative efforts between international organizations and local authorities in addressing socio-economic and security challenges in the region.
The visit concluded with the exchange of mementos, followed by Mr. Franche leaving a note in the visitors’ book.
