The General Officer Commanding of the 58 Infantry Division, Major General J.K.R Jayakody RWP USP, assumed duties as the 19th Colonel of the Regiment of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment on 11th February 2025 at the Regimental Centre, Ambepussa.
Upon arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Centre Commandant of the Regimental Centre SLSR, Colonel C.N Kathriarachchi RWP, and honoured in a Guard Turnout.
Subsequently, the Senior Officer, in his new office, placed his signature on a formal document, symbolizing the assumption of duties as the Colonel of the Regiment.
Thereafter, he was accorded a Guard of Honour salute presented by SLSR troops at the parade square.
As part of the day’s proceedings, the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment was invited to plant a sapling to mark the occasion.
Following this, a floral tribute was paid at the War Heroes Monument in memory of all valiant Officers and Other Ranks of the SLSR who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland. Later, he addressed the troops, sharing his thoughts and perspectives, and joined an All-Ranks tea.
Subsequently, the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment posed for a group photograph with all Officers, and the event concluded with a formal lunch at the Officers’ Mess, SLSR.
Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and family members of Officers participated in the event.
