Army Soldier Was Commended by GOC for Honesty

Corporal K.P.M.N Gunasekara of the 2 (V) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, serving at the 54 Infantry Division Headquarters, set an inspiring example of honesty by returning a lost wallet containing Rs. 102,220 along with important documents.

On 11th February 2025, while at a bank in Mannar town, she discovered the misplaced wallet. Without hesitation, she handed it over to the Mannar Police Station, ensuring its safe return to its rightful owner, Ms. Sundararasa Merry Sudarshani.

Recognizing her integrity, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 54 Infantry Division commended her for upholding the highest values of the Sri Lanka Army. Additionally, the Officer-in-Charge of the Mannar Police Station presented her with a letter of appreciation in recognition of her exemplary conduct.
