Major General G.L.S.W Liyanage USP nps psc assumed office as the 18th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) on 16th January 2025 at the SLSC Regimental Centre, Panagoda.
Upon arrival, the Senior Officer was warmly welcomed by Brigadier T.S Liyanagunawardana, Centre Commandant of the SLSC, followed by a Guard Turnout at the entrance. Paying tribute to fallen war heroes, the newly appointed Colonel Commandant laid a floral wreath at the monument. Subsequently, a ceremonial parade was held, and he posed for a group photograph with the Officers.
Amidst religious observances, he signed official document to mark his assumption of duties in the presence of council members, Senior Officers, and regimental staff. Addressing all ranks, he shared his vision, which aligns with the Commander of the Army's theme, "Soldiers Centred Army". On this occasion, personnel deployed in distant locations joined via a virtual platform.
The programme concluded with an all-ranks tea, an address to the officers, and lunch at the Officers’ Mess. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
