Major General Y.A.B.M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, assumed office as 32nd Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) on Friday (20) December 2024.
Upon arrival, the Senior Officer was accorded a Guard Turnout followed by a Guard of Honour by the troops of 11th Battalion, Sri Lanka Light Infantry. Then, the newly appointed Commander formally took over duties amidst the chantings of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the Maha Sangha in the presence of multi-religious clergy, signing an official document, marking the acceptance of his new office.
Following this, he posed for a few group photographs and planted a sapling on the premises before paying floral tribute to Palaly War Heroes’ Monument in remembrance of fallen War Heroes.
Furthermore, he addressed the troops and commended the brave effort and exemplary performance of Sergeant W.D.I.D Kumara of 7th Battalion, Sri Lanka Light Infantry for preventing the robbery to be occured near his camp on 28 November by presenting a gift.
During the All-Ranks’ tea, Officers’ and Other Ranks had an opportunity to wish new Commander. Finally, the new Commander held a conference and briefed his expectations of under command Officers culminating the day’s event.
