Marking World Diabetes Day on 14 November, the Army Hospital, Colombo conducted an awareness programme for Army personnel and their families on 04 December 2024 at the Hospital premises. The event aimed to foster a healthier, non-communicable disease-free Army under the theme “A Healthy Army Healthy Nation.
The programme offered vital health services, including foot nerve examinations, blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, nutritional and mental health counselling, guidance on weight management, and awareness of diabetes-related eye complications.
Special lectures were delivered by experts, with Mr. N.M.S. Hettigedara discussing "Managing Diabetes Through Proper Dietary Habits" and Staff Sergeant T.L.G. Priyadarshana introducing "An Exercise Programme."
