Commemoration of the 31st Anniversary of the Pooneryn Decisive Battle

The 31st anniversary of the Pooneryn decisive battle was marked with a series of events to honour the memory of fallen, missing, and wounded War Heroes on 11 November 2024.

The commemorative activities were conducted under the guidance of Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander of Security Forces (Jaffna) and Colonel of the Gajaba Regiment.

In line with anniversary, religious and charity events were held at the 552 Infantry Brigade, under the supervision of Major General R.K.N.C Jayawardena RSP ndc, General Officer Commanding of the 55 Infantry Division.

Moreover, the Gajaba Regiment arranged a donation event at St. Luke's Methodist Elders' Home in Puttur to provide basic necessities and lunch for 19 elders and 14 staff members.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
