Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Marks 73rd Anniversary

The Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers celebrated its 73rd anniversary on 09 November 2024 at the Regimental Centre under the guidance of Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander of Security Forces (West) and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

The anniversary celebrations commenced with the commemoration of fallen War Heroes at the War Heroes Monument at the Regimental Centre on 06 November 2024. Following this, troops organised an all-night Pirith Chanting Ceremony. The following morning, the offering of ‘Heel Daana’ (alms-giving) and ‘Pirikara’ to the Maha Sangha was conducted at the Sappers' Mess.

On 09 November 2024, upon arrival, the Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Overlooking Centre Commandant at the main entrance. He was then accorded a formal Guard Turnout and proceeded to lay a floral wreath at the Fallen War Heroes Monument in their honour. Shortly thereafter, the Colonel Commandant was invited to the parade ground to receive the salute in the Guard of Honour. Following these events, the Colonel Commandant attended the All-Ranks lunch.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Seva Vanitha Branch, under the guidance of Mrs. Surangi Amarapala, Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Branch, made a financial donation to Mr. N.L.D.S.R. Karunarathne, a dedicated civil servant with 30 years of loyal service to the Corps, who is currently facing health challenges that require specialised medical treatment and ongoing medication.
