A group of representatives from the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association (SLESA) pinned a Poppy flower on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, this morning (07) at the Commander’s office, in line with the forthcoming ‘Remembrance Day' (Poppy Day), which honors the memory of all fallen War Heroes.
Lieutenant Colonel Ajith Siyambalapitiya (Retd), Chairman of SLESA, pinned the poppy flower on the Commander of the Army, symbolizing the commencement of this year’s anniversary activities. The Commander of the Army, while contributing to the Poppy Till, made an additional donation to the Poppy Fund. Following this, the SLESA members presented a copy of the latest Veteran Magazine to the Army.
Afterward, the Army Chief engaged in a cordial exchange of ideas with the representatives, inquiring about their ongoing welfare projects for the benefit of all ex-servicemen. Colonel Sujith Jayasekara (Retd), Secretary of SLESA, Major General Mahinda Mudalige (Retd), Vice President Poppy Committee and several other Poppy Committee members were also present.
