The Army Inter-Regiment Elle Championship – 2024, organized by the Sri Lanka Army Elle Committee, concluded successfully at Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium on 25 October 2024, showcasing the skills of over 300 players from twelve regiments.
In a competitive men’s final, the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) defeated the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) to clinch the championship trophy, with the Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) securing third place. Corporal R.A.S.H. Jayarathne of SLASC was awarded Best Player, Infantryman L.H.A.J. Maduwantha of SLLI received Best Fielder, and Lance Corporal K.I. Lakmal of SLNG was named Best Batsman.
In the women’s final, 1 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) emerged as champions, defeating 2 (V) SLAWC. Sergeant K.M.S.S. Wimalarathna of 1 SLAWC received the awards for Best Woman Player and Best Batsman, while Corporal N.L.S.K. Indrawansha of 2 (V) SLAWC was recognized as Best Fielder.
Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP psc, Chief of Staff at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff and Chairman of the Army Elle Committee, graced the event as the Chief Guest and presented awards and trophies to the winners. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the event.
