Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) Hands Over New Houses to Needy Families in the Jaffna Area

As part of the ongoing housing project of the Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander of the Security Forces (Jaffna), handed over the keys to three newly constructed houses to deserving families in Paranthan and Kilinochchi on the 16 and 17 of October 2024, coinciding with the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army.

The first house was vested to Mr. Thureisami Santhira Thevan of Sivapuram, Paranthan, in a simple ceremony blessed with religious observances. This house was constructed by troops of the 6th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (6 SLSR) with the generous support of philanthropists, including Professor Bandara Athauda, Mr. Ariyarathne Wijesiri (Assistant Director of Education), Mr. Ruwan Deshapriya Jayarathne, Mr. Jeewanathan Kandaiya, and the soldiers of 6 SLSR.

Subsequently, the Commander, Security Forces Jaffna presented the second house to Lance Corporal M. Yogawadana, wife of Sergeant Sanjaya G.M.G, in Pannankandi, Kilinochchi. The house was built by troops of the 14th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard (14 SLNG), with materials provided by the family and 14 SLNG personnel.

Both houses were constructed under the direction of Major General R.K.N.C Jayawardena RSP ndc, General Officer Commanding of the 55 Infantry Division under the supervision of Colonel W.A.I.S Mendis RSP USP, Commander of the 553 Infantry Brigade.

Similarly, the Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna), handed over another house to Mrs. Rajkumar Ranjitha and her family in Iyakkachchi amidst religious blessings. This house was constructed by troops of the 1st Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment, with the generous support of philanthropists, including Lieutenant Colonel Rohana Thilakaratne (Retd), Major Ruwan Sivaneththi (Retd), Major Senadeera (Retd), Mr. Pramuk Fernando, Mr. Nalinda Diyagamage, Mr. Praveen Kiriwaththuduwa, Mr. Ijas Ahmed, and Bhaskaran Kandaiah.

This house was built under the direction of Major General P.R. Pathiravithana USAWC USP, General Officer Commanding of the 52 Infantry Division under the supervision of Colonel S.M.C.A.S Samarathunga RSP, Commander of the 523 Infantry Brigade, and Commander (Overlooking) of the 522 Infantry Brigade.

Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, and Villagers attended the ceremonies.
