Army Chief Attends Final Day of Kandy Esala Perahera

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army together with Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of Army Seva Vanitha Unit, witnessed the final day of the Kandy Esala Perahera, specifically the Grand “Randoli” Procession on 19 August 2024. This traditional procession marks the climax of one of Sri Lanka's most significant cultural events.

The event was also attended by several distinguished guests, including HE the President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General G.D.H. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff, and Navy and Air Force Commanders. Senior Officers from the Tri-forces, their spouses, and state officials were also present at the occasion.
