Army Chief Attends the Final Rites of Most Venerable Galaboda Gnanissara Thero

The final rites of the Most Venerable Galaboda Gnanissara Thero was held with full state honours and a huge gathering of mourners on 05 August 2024 at the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple premises presided by HE the President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army along with Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit attended the state honoured funeral and paid their last respects. Expressing deep sorrow and offering his condolences during his participation, the Army Chief shared a few thoughts with several attendees.

Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, Prime Minister, Parliamentarians, General G.D.H. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Navy, Senior Tri-Forces Officers, their spouses, state officials, relatives and the public also attended the final rites.
