Coinciding with the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army which is to be celebrated in October this year, a newly constructed house was vested in Mrs. H.G. Susila Navaratne, a needy family, by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, along with Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit, on 27 July 2024.
The new house was constructed by the troops of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (SLEME) under the guidance of Major General S.P.A.I.M.B. Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Deputy Chief of Staff and Colonel Commandant of SLEME, and supervised by Major A.D.H.M. Nuwan USP Lsc, Commanding Officer of the 3 SLEME.
The land for the construction was generously donated by Mr. Anura Bandara, Ms. Samanthi Kumari, Ms. Anula Kumarihami, Mr. Ran Bandara and Ms. Muthu Menika Kumarihami. Additional support was provided by numerous individuals.
Mrs. Nandani Samarakoon, Chairperson of SLEME Seva Vanitha Branch, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, and civilians participated in the event.
