The ceremonial Medal Awarding Parade of the Sri Lanka Guard Unit (SLGU) serving in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) was held at the GAO Super Camp premises on 19 July 2024.
Mr. Anton Antchev, Director of Liquidation Entity (MINUSMA) graced the event as the Chief Guest. A total of 207 Sri Lankan peacekeepers were honoured with UN MINUSMA medals during the parade. The Chief Guest commended the SLGU troops for their professionalism and dedication, highlighting their courage and significant contributions amidst challenging conditions.
Major T.M.T. De Silva USP psc SLAC served as the Parade Commander. SLGU is anticipated to return to Sri Lanka soon after the completion of their mission in Mali.
