Troops of the 56 Infantry Division joined one of the major agricultural festivals of Tamil residents in Vavuniya to celebrate the auspicious Annual Pongal Festival, a thanksgiving to the sun and Lord Indra for better yields. The festival was conducted on 13, 14, and 15 July 2024 at Omanthai Arasarpathy Shri Kannakai Amman Golden Temple.
Major General S. Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 56 Infantry Division, was invited to attend a special Pooja held on 15 July 2024. The troops of the 56 Infantry Division assisted the Kovil authorities in making the event successful.
The Deputy General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division, Commander of 563 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, and residents in the area participated in the event.
