The 51 Infantry Division hosted a football tournament for under14 players at CIMIC Park, Headquarters, 51 Infantry Division, on 6 and 7 July 2024, with the participation of 32 junior football teams.
In the final showdown, the Kilinochchi Eagle junior football team competed against the Jaffna Gurunagar Senrock team, and the Gurunagar Senrock team clinched the championship title.
Major General W.B.J.K Wimalarathna RWP RSP, the General Officer Commanding of the 51 Infantry Division, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and presented medals, trophies, and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.00 to the victorious Gurunagar Senrock team.
The tournament also paid tribute to Mr. Sinna Mone Selvarathnam, an 80-year-old distinguished football player from the Jaffna District.
