The Eastern Province Poson Dawn 2024 competition took place from 21 to 26 June 2024 in Ampara. A total of 150 Poson lanterns were displayed during the competition. Government institutes, civilians, and military establishments participated in the event.
The Army winners of Poson Dawn 2024 competition are as follows:
- Sri Lanka Engineer Regiment - 1st Place
- Special Forces Regiment - 4th Place
- 16th Sri Lanka National Guard - 5th Place
- Commando Training School, Ampara - 6th Place
- Regimental Headquarters Gemunu Watch - 8th Place
- 24 Infantry Division - 11th Place
The decorated lanterns were contributed to the competition under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General S.A. Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc and the supervision of Major General W.L.A.C. Perera RWP RSP USP, the General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division.
