Coinciding with Poson Poya Day, the Sri Vijayarama Temple in Akkaraipattu organized a Mihindu Perahera on 22 June 2024. Under the guidance of Brigadier L.S.D.N. Pathiratne RSP USP, Commander of the 241 Infantry Brigade, dansala programme was held on the temple premises to provide buns, bananas and cool drinks for the participants of perahera. Mr. A. Abdul Salam, Chairman of the Akkaraipattu Trade Association, sponsored the event.
Additionally, a rice dansela was held in front of the 241 Infantry Brigade headquarters at the evening hours. More than 4500 local residents from Akkaraipattu and surrounding areas participated in this event.
Meanwhile, under the instructions of the Commanding Officer of the 11 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, the troops conducted a chickpea dansala on 21 June 2024 at the Kurukkalmadam Kalewani school playground in celebration of Poson Poya Day.
