Major General I.A.N.B Perera RWP USP ndu psc, the Military Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES), visited the 1 Engineer Services Regiment (1 ESR) on 22 June 2024. The Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel P.A.A.S Perera, warmly welcomed the visiting Military Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services according to him a guard turnout showcasing the regiment's discipline.
The Commanding Officer briefed to the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services on the unit's tasks, responsibilities, and recent achievements, highlighting its vital role in supporting the military. Following this the Military Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army planted a sapling, symbolizing the regiment's commitment to environmental responsibility and future success.
During his visit, toured the camp premises, gaining firsthand knowledge of the regiment's capabilities. A group photograph with the officers commemorated the visit, fostering unity and shared purpose.
The visit continued with a tea reception, facilitating informal interaction and strengthening the bond between the Colonel Commandant and the personnel of the regiment. This was followed by a troop address, where he commended the regiment's dedication and professionalism.
The visit of the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services concluded with the signing of the Visitors' Book, a tradition solidifying his visit and contributing to the regiment's history. This significant event underscored the regiment's professionalism, dedication, and vital role in the Sri Lankan military, further strengthening the bonds within the unit.
The Centre Commandant of CES, Brigadier K.L. Munasinghe, USP, Officers, and Other Ranks joined the visit.
