The Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment (SLLI) organized a felicitation ceremony on 12 June 2024 at the SLLI Regimental Centre premises to honour Major General W.G.P. Sisira Kumara RSP, Deputy Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), on his recent promotion.
The event commenced with a ceremonial Guard Turnout, where he was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Centre Commandant at the entrance of the Regimental Headquarters. This was followed by a Guard of Honor salute at the regimental parade square. Subsequently, he paid respects to fallen War Heroes offering a floral tribute.
A group photograph session with all participants and the troops address at the Regimental Centre lecture hall were among the highlights of the ceremony. In his address, the Senior Officer reflected on his 36-year military career, expressing gratitude to veterans, Senior Officers, and all ranks whose support had been instrumental in his journey.
The day concluded with a ceremonial tea party for all ranks, fostering camaraderie and celebration among attendees. Major General G.M.N. Perera RWP RSP USP ndc, Quarter Master General and Colonel Commandant of SLLI, along with Brigadier J.K.R.P. Jayasinghe RWP RSP USP, the Centre Commandant of SLLI Regimental Centre, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks attended the occasion.
