GR Bids Farewell to Retiring Colonel of the Regiment

The Gajaba Regiment (GR) bade farewell to the outgoing Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of the GR, Major General W.H.K.S. Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, with military honours and greetings in a formal ceremony held at the Regimental Centre of GR, Saliyapura on 05 June 2024.

Upon his arrival, the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment was accorded a Guard Turnout by the troops of the GR. The Senior Officer then laid a floral wreath to statue the late Major General Vijaya Wimalaratne followed by a Guard of Honour presented at the parade square.

Afterwards, the retiring Colonel of the Regiment posed for several photographs with all attendees and interacted with Officers and Other Ranks during an All-Ranks tea session.

Later in the evening, a customary Farewell Mess Night was hosted for the retiring Senior Officer. Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, and Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit graced the event. Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B. Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna delivered the farewell speech, extending deep gratitude and appreciation for the service of the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment.

Senior Officers their spouses, Officers and Other Ranks of the GR participated in the farewell ceremony.
