61 Infantry Division celebrated its 16th anniversary amidst military formalities under the guidance of Major General K.H.M.S Wikramaratne RSP, the General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division.
The anniversary celebrations commenced with a friendly cricket tournament on 27 May 2024, where Officers, Other Ranks, and civil staff of the 61 Infantry Division participated, fostering camaraderie and teamwork. Additionally, on 29 May 2024, the Elders of the Wijerathna Elders’ Home in Rathgama were treated with a delicious lunch.
On the anniversary day, Major General K.H.M.S Wikramaratne RSP was warmly welcomed by staff Officers and saluted in a formal Guard Turnout. To mark the occasion, he planted a sapling followed by All Ranks lunch.
Deputy General Officer Commanding, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the anniversary celebrations.
