Troops of SF-Wanni Felicitate the Annual Holy Festival

The annual holy festival of Kannagi Amman Kovil, Wattappalai, was conducted from 20-21 May 2024. Approximately 500,000-600,000 devotees participated in the ceremony.

Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces – Wanni and Major General W.M.P.M Wejasooriya RWP RSP ndu, the General Officer Commanding of 59 Infantry Division provided necessary guidelines for the projects.

Under the supervision of the Commander of the 591 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier M.J. Ubesekara RSP psc, troops of the Brigade provided security, medical facilities, and installed huts inside the Kovil area as per the requirements of the Kovil committee. Moreover, troops of the 59 Infantry Division provided coriander drinks and vegetable buns for the devotees.
