Army Chief Pays Last Respect to Late Major C.B. Kohona (Rtd)

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army, on 16 May, paid his last respect to late Major C.B. Kohona (Rtd) of the Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps at his residence in Kandy.

Late Major C.B. Kohona (Rtd) was a former school cadet teacher at Vijaya College, Matale. The Commander paid honour to his former cadet teacher, acknowledging the significant role he played during school days, and extended his heartfelt condolences to the family members of the deceased Senior Officer in their time of grief.

Major C.B. Kohona (Rtd) passed away on Sunday (14 May 2024) due to a brief illness at the Colombo Army Hospital, Narahenpita. At the time of his passing, he was 73 years old, leaving behind a legacy of valour and service to the nation.

Major C.B. Kohona (Rtd) enlisted in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force to Intake CCC-1 on 07 March 1983. Upon successful completion of basic military training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and posted to the Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps. Throughout his career, he held various appointments and elevated to the rank of Major. He retired from the Sri Lanka Army on 18 Jan 2011.
