Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) arranged a formal ceremony to bid farewell to the Colonel Commandant of SLAWC, Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG on 18 April 2024 at Regimental Center, Borella.
In accordance with military traditions, a Guard Turnout was accorded before he marked the end of his tenure by signing the official handing-over document at the office premises.
Prior to his departure, the outgoing Colonel Commandant saluted the memory of fallen War Heroes at the SLAWC ‘War Heroes’ monument. During his troops address, he extended his gratitude to All Ranks serving in respective SLAWC establishments for committed service, rendered to maintain the standard and subculture of the SLAWC during his office.
Adding memories to the day, the outgoing Colonel Commandant was invited to pose for a group photograph. Afterwards, an exchange of mementos was took place marking the event. Towards the end, the Colonel Commandant penned down some complimentary remarks in the visitors’ book.
