Warrant Officer 1 H.M.P.A Herath USP who was recently appointed as the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of the Army Headquarters, received his symbolic cane on Thursday (18 April) at the Army Headquarters. On the invitation of Major General W.W.H.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army presented the symbolic cane (‘Cane Malacca’) to him during the traditional New Year tea table and cordial get-together on the same day.
Major General W.H.K.S Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of Staff, Major General S.P.A.I.M.B Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Deputy Chief of Staff, Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and civil servants were also present at the event.
The RSM of the Army Headquarters holds the highest appointment a Non-commissioned Officer can achieve in the Army and he will be considered the Most Senior Non-commissioned Officer in the organisation.
Warrant Officer 1 H.M.P.A Heath USP joined the Sri Lanka Army Signal Corps on 01 September 2004 and has completed more than 19 years of service in the Army. He was appointed as the Regimental Sergeant Major of the Army Headquarters on 02 April 2024.
