Gajaba Supercross Ice Break - 2024 Thrills Spectators

The 'Gajaba Supercross Ice Break - 2024', organised by the Gajaba Regiment (GR) in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Autosports Drivers Association (SLADA), commenced on Sunday (03 March) at the Saliyapura Gajaba Regiment racing track.

The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, along with Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit. Major General W.H.K.S Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of Staff, Major General S.P.A.I.M.B Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Deputy Chief of Staff, Brigadier W.M.A.B Wijekoon USP ndc, Centre Commandant of Gajaba Regiment and SLADA officials welcomed the Chief Guest.

The event commenced with a two-minute silence to pay respect to fallen War Heroes, followed by the flagging off of the first racing event by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage. The 'Gajaba Supercross Ice Break - 2024', known as a major attraction in the area, featured 12 car races and 10 motorbike races.

This Supercross event is an eagerly-anticipated event in Sri Lanka's motor racing calendar and draws support from motor-racing enthusiasts. Over 200 renowned drivers and riders displayed their exceptional skills, thrilling thousands of spectators.

The 'Gajaba Supercross Ice Break - 2024' is not only a spectacle but also serves a noble cause. It raises funds for enhancing infrastructure facilities at the Regimental Centre and for facilitating the welfare of Army personnel and families of fallen GR War Heroes.

At the conclusion of the event, Commander of the Army and other Senior Officers, along with SLADA officials, presented trophies, medals, and certificates to the winners.
