‘Thuru Mithuru Nawa Ratak’ Afforestation Drive Inaugurated inside Monastery

To be in line with the Commander's afforestation drive, 'Thuru Mithuru Nawa Ratak', the FYFA Volunteer organization, together with Army troops and Civil Security Department troops inaugurated the afforestation of Welikanda Kawudagala forest reserve in order to multiply its jungle density.

The project was launched at Kawudagala Forest Monastery with the blessings of resident Maha Sangha on Saturday (24).

As the first phase of this valuable project, Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi, (Retd), Commissioner General of Rehabilitation participated in the inauguaratin as the Chief Guest in the company of Mr Lasantha Nirmal, Founder and Director of FYFA Volunteer Organization, Colonel Wasantha Hewage Commander 233 Infantry Brigade, Members of FYFA Volunteer Organization, Army and CSD troops and scores of students in Welikanda area. 1000 saplings of herbal and domestic value were planted during the project in the area.

In addition, 100,000 saplings are to be planted under the project within the next two years.
