‘Sound of Jesus’ Media Group Wants Head, NOCPCO to Distribute Donated Oximeters for Children's Hospital

To ensure COVID-affected children in the Lady Ridgeway Hospital at Borella receive a fairer access to the use of vital oximeters during their hospital stay, 'Sound of Jesus' Media Group in the Catholic church, headed by Rev Fr Kalana Ishara Peiris this afternoon (27) met General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID -19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army at the Army HQ and donated a stock of 800 Oximeters for fair distribution among ailing children and medical staff at this children's hospital.

The sponsorship for purchase of this stock has been provided by members of the Catholic community, resident both here and abroad, considering the availability of this instrument as a prioritized need for children suffering from COVID-19. The equipment that could measure one's concentration of oxygen level in the blood and heart rate prompts medical staff to take necessary preventive remedial steps to save lives.

Rev Fr Kalana Ishara Peiris at the Commander’s office requested the Army Chief in the latter's capacity as Head, NOCPCO to distribute those life-saving equipment among those patients in all wards in a fairer manner as shortage of such accessories could pose a grave threat in the treatment of those children.

The Army Chief while thanking the organization for its generosity in return assured the donors that the stock would be fairly shared among those children as such equipment could immensely assist the medical fraternity to attend to emergencies on priority basis.
