A ‘Shramadana’ programme to clean both roadsides along the road that leads to Vishwamadhu in the general area of Mullaittivu and Kannainagar-based Pullayar Kovil premises got underway during 4 - 5 December following guidelines given by the Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu, Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe.
The General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Major General Priyantha Jayawardena and Brigade Commander of the 572 Brigade, Brigadier Nishantha Muthumala closely supervised the project which helps to foster goodwill between civilians and members of the Security Forces.
Troops of 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and 14 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG), together with officers completed the projects during both days.
Meanwhile, in response to a request made by Oddusudan Hospital for assistance to clean the hospital compound, the 61 Division HQ giving leadership launched a programme to clean the hospital premises with the support of 641 Brigade troops on Monday (6).
The request was extended to Major General Upul Weerakoon, General Officer Commanding, 64 Division when he visited the hospital on Wednesday (1) since the hospital premises was full of pollutants and garbage.
All units under the 641 Brigade contributed to the project on the directions of their Commanding Officers. Over 50 All Ranks took part in the hospital project.
