‘KIOSK’ Discount Shop at AHQ to Sell All Military Paraphernalia, Self-made Products & Fancy Items

Offering a greater range of Army-tailored uniforms, insignia, shoes, civil clothes, perfumery, medals, ribbons, paraphernalia, etc and a commercial platform for sale of exclusively War Heroes-crafted handicrafts and other self-made ornamental creations, the Army HQ at Sri Jayawardenepura this morning (29) expanded its welfare facility scope further for All Ranks and inaugurated its new ‘KIOSK’, the sales outlet that charges up to 50 per cent less.

At the request of Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), Major General (retd) Kamal Gunaratne, Secretary Defence and Mrs Chithrani Gunaratne, Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit to the Ministry of Defence as distinguished guests unveiled a plaque and opened the outlet cutting a symbolic ribbon.

The new Army Seva Vanitha Unit-managed ‘KIOSK’ sells all Army accessories as mentioned above, branded personal garments, clothes, ladies’ items and other eco-friendly items, such as table mats, natural products, environment-friendly products, handicrafts, hand-made ornamental jewelleries, etc produced largely by handicapped War Heroes under rehabilitation at wellness resorts and other talented ones in all formations. Products crafted by injured War Heroes at Pangolla ‘Abimansala-3’ Paper Recycling Project are also on sale at this new sales outlet which offers big discounts on all items.

Major General (retd) Kamal Gunaratne, Mrs Gunaratne, the day’s distinguished invitees, Mrs Mayuri Prabhavi Dias, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Chandima Ulugetenna, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Priyangi Wickramaratne, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Police Seva Vanitha Unit, Senior Seva Vanitha Members, together with Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva and Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, closely watched the items on sale and inquired into their production processes, etc from the soldiers on duty at the location after warming of the new showroom.
